In creating your own plan to vote, remember that:
- Early voting is October 15th thru November 1st.
- In-person voting (Election Day) is November 5th.
Some people with disabilities prefer absentee voting. With absentee voting, don’t forget that:
- Absentee ballots must be requested and received by October 25th.
- If mailed, ballots must be received by your county election office before the close of the polls on November 5th.
- Absentee ballots can also be returned in person at your county election office by November 5th.
If you need a ride to the polls, Roll 2 the Polls is a good organization to contact. Request a ride on their website, roll2thepolls.vote, or contact them by phone at 1-855-ADA-Vote (1-855-242-8683) or. ASL 229-262-3424, text 678-358-9540
Before voting, it is often helpful to see a sample ballot. Sample ballots can be accessed on the GA My Voter Page. This page also provides other useful information like voting locations and ballot status.
As stated on the Georgia Secretary of State website:
The law requires that your county provide polling places that are accessible to people with disabilities. Georgia’s paper-ballot voting system includes adjustments to accommodate various disabilities. Headsets are available so you can hear your choices read to you. Large controls are available for people with limited mobility, and they can accommodate sip-and-puff devices.
Though polling places provide the above and other adaptive equipment, election workers maybe inexperienced with these accommodations, and because that, it is good to have a plan, ask questions, and vote early.
