We, the Statewide Independent Living Council of Georgia (SILCGA), are gearing up to hold town hall meetings across the state. The purpose of the town hall meetings is to obtain community input, as we prepare to compose Georgia’s Statewide Plan for Independent Living (SPIL). In order to receive Independent Living funds under Title VII, Chapter 1 of the federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, each state must develop a State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL). In Georgia the plan is developed jointly every three years by the SILC, Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA,) and community support.
We here at SILCGA value your input as we work to develop and promote independent living for Georgians with disabilities in underserved areas of the state and hope you will be able to join us on Monday, December 10th in Clarke County or Monday, December 17th in Dekalb County.
